Way of Santa Rosalia – Itinerarium Rosaliæ
A PATH unforgettable trekking, d in Monte Pellegrino to the Cave of the Hermitage of St. Rosalia at Quisquina, totaling 180 km to be done through the Conca d’Oro, the Alto Belice Corleone and Sikelian Mountains Park, the breathtaking scenery and colors unique as only Sicily can be reserved.
Program
Day 1 – Saturday, December 7 : Monte Pellegrino (Palermo), Monreale, 16 km – In Morning meeting in Monte Pellegrino; after visiting the Santuzza in the Cave and the delivery of the Charta Peregrini, starting for the first stage: from the Mount (which the Greeks called Ercte for its steepness), down to the heart of Palermo and the old Cassaro before rebounding up to Monreale . Upon arrival we will settle in a religious structure of the old town and have dinner in a typical restaurant near the Duomo.
Day 2 – Sunday, December 8 : Monreale in Piana degli Albanesi, km 21 – Leaving the city we leave the Conca d’Ora and after passing Alton climb up the slopes of the Monti Piana (Tips Moarda, the Carpineto Coast and Greenhouses Pizzuta). Overnight in B & B.
Day 3 – Monday, December 9th : from Piana degli Albanesi in Contrada Rossella, km 14.5 – After visiting the Cathedral of St. Demetrius arbereshe leave the capital of Sicily (and home of the Sicilian Cannoli!), For a stage without major difficult: go down to Lake Plain and from there go up the slopes of the Monti and Rossella Leardo, leading to the eighteenth-century Masseria Rossella is an ancient residence of Princes Ventimiglia, house today.
Day 4 – Tuesday, December 10 : Contrada Rossella (Piana degli Albanesi), Borgo Ficuzza, km 18 – After skirting the lake of Scanzano and crossed the heart of the beautiful Ficuzza wood, we will reach the Ficuzza village and Real Casina hunting of King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon. Upon arrival transfer until the Old Campofiorito station that will host us for the night.
Day 5 – Wednesday, December 11 : from Campofiorito in Chiusa Sclafani, 18 km – Stage with no difference in level and largely along the route of the old narrow-gauge railway which ends in Chiusa Sclafani Historical Center. Transfer to Burgio to sleep in a tree in forest Campello Burgio.
Day 6 – Thursday, December 12 : from Campello (Burgio) in Palazzo Adriano, 14 km – entirely in mountain path, through woods and geologic age of the findings of Permian high importance, such as the Stone of the Saracens from which we will pass; We cross the heart of the Parco dei Monti Sicani and arrive in the famous square, scene of the film Oscar “Award New Cinema Paradiso” followed by a short tour of the museum.
Day 7 – Friday, December 13 : Palazzo Adriano in Contr. Carcaci (Prizzi), 14.5 kilometers – Short stage and suggestive that will take us first to ford the river and then reach Sosio Prizzi, one of the oldest towns of Sicani. From here to the Mount Carcaci, where we will be hosted on a farm with simple and pilgrims hospitality.
Day 8 – Saturday, December 14 : Contrada Carcaci (Prizzi) in Santo Stefano Quisquina, km 20,5 – challenging stage, but it provides a very varied course and enjoy beautiful views: you start driving along the beautiful oak forests of Monte Carcaci passing then to the suggestive seasonal pond Marcato of Lavanche and continuing through the wide valley of Leo, in a frame of typically mountain environments. The last stretch, downhill, you can finally reach Santo Stefano Quisquina.
Day 9 – Sunday, December 15 : from Santo Stefano Quisquina hermitage of Santa Rosalia, km 10.5 – Epilogue of the Way with the ascent through the ancient devotional route in the Forest of Quisquina, up to 1,000 m. the Hermitage and the first cave of Santuzza. Return to the country through the ridge of Monte and visit to the Teatro Andromeda.

Not included: the inclusion fee € 15 per person. Cancellation insurance. Any local taxes and residence tourist tax. Extras of personal nature and gratuities. Anything not specifically mentioned in “The price includes.”
Additional services: Possibility to combine transfers from the place of origin, and / or from the airports of Catania, Palermo and Trapani.
